Text: Mark 7:24-30
Title: “The Humility of Genuine Faith”
Wherever salvation is received, humility is present. People are not saved because of their humility, but God produces the humility that belongs to the faith that receives the Son of God for salvation. Humility is present wherever faith is being exercised in the Lord Jesus Christ.
This Lord’s Day, we see a Syrophoenician mother who was in desperate need of help. Her little daughter was greatly tormented by a demon. She reveals a genuine faith in the Lord Jesus. She knows that He is the Lord, that He is the Son of David, and that it is His mercy that she and her daughter need.
As we see how Christ dealt with her, we are taught 5 truths about the humility of genuine faith.
- HUMILITY IS NOT EXPLAINED BY NATURE
- HUMILITY RECOGNIZES ITS NEED
- HUMILITY EXPRESSES ITS NEED
- HUMILITY IS NOT OFFENDED BY THE TRUTH
- HUMILITY IS A GRACE STORY
