Preparing for Worship: December 31, 2017
Text: Mark 9:38-41
Title: “Narrower than Jesus”
Guarding sound doctrine and watching out for spiritual wolves is a responsibility given to spiritual leaders. There is a danger, however, that all believers face when we think about discernment. It is the danger of developing a mindset that lacks generosity and practices a proud exclusiveness in ministry that displeases Christ.
This Lord’s Day we will listen as Christ takes a question from the apostle John and turns it into an opportunity to teach His men about generosity in ministry. May the Lord teach us to be careful and faithful, but not proud.
I. A NARROW VIEW OF FELLOWSHIP (v. 38)
II. A BROADER VIEW OF FELLOWSHIP (vv. 39-40)
