Preparing for Worship: January 20, 2019
Text: Mark 13:14-23
Title: “Unsurpassed Tribulation”
The disciples asked Jesus for a sign of His appearing (the manifestation of His kingdom) and the end of the age. In Mark 13:14–23, Jesus gave one. He spoke of a time of tribulation that will be unsurpassed. It will be the worst that the world will ever see. And He spoke of a sign that will indicate that the tribulation has come. That sign is the abomination of desolation.
This Lord’s Day we will contrast the common expectations that lost humanity has regarding the future of the world, with the description of the future that Jesus gave. We will consider what this means for our own lives, and how we respond to the empty hopes of a world in need of Christ.
