The Pastors Seminary exists to train and equip men whom the Lord has called to pastoral ministry. The seminary recognizes that only God can make a pastor. God is the only One who calls men to herald His word to His church. God requires pastors to model ministry, train others, entrusting them with the Word of God in order to take it to a God-hating world and to shepherd the flock of God. Such a calling requires godly character, and divine gifting and ability to lead, preach, and shepherd in Christ’s church. As a ministry of the church, The Pastors Seminary oversees the academic training of men who are being equipped inside the church for the work of ministry.
“One of the greatest needs of our time, in the life of the local church, is a biblical worldview for pastoral ministry.
I am convinced that the best training for pastors requires the investment of pastors. Having pastors for professors protects the best scholarship by focusing the seminary experience on equipping pastors with what is beneficial for His people. Ideally, that kind of investment happens in the context of a healthy local church. It is this belief, coupled with what we believe is a timely provision of needed resources from our God, that has given birth to The Pastors Seminary.”
The church is the only institution authorized by God to recognize a man whom God has called into the ministry (1 Tim 4:14; 5:22; 2 Tim 1:6). The church has been entrusted with the task of training the next generation of church leaders (2 Tim 4:2). The apostles modeled obedience to the Great Commission by planting churches and appointing elders wherever the preaching of the gospel produced converts (e.g., Acts 14:23). The biblical ideal for seminary training is consistent—pastors train pastors.
