Preparing for Worship: February 17, 2019
Text: Mark 14:1–2
Title: “A Comforting Contrast”
The fourteenth chapter of Mark’s gospel account marks a transition. We will now be focused on the events that lead directly to the cross. We will eventually see Christ arrested, falsely tried, crucified, buried, and raised. We will see Judas betray Christ, Peter deny Christ, and Pilate vacillate over Christ. But before we see any of those events, we are reminded, in the first two verses of chapter 14, who is really in control. There is a contrast between the plans of men and the purpose of God. As we will see this Lord’s Day, that contrast is one that gives comfort to all of God’s children.
To prepare for this week’s text, consider reading Psalm 2 along with Mark 14:1-2.
